18 Days Students Summer Program – “Experience Kenya” This summer program for international students is designed for students to take part in tours, interacting with local community as well as learning away from classroom environment.

Day 1: Transfer / Orientation

Transfer from Airport to Academy, have a welcome drink & Settling in to Residence. Lunch, then take a tour of Academy. Later enjoy your rest of the day at leisure (Relax or Swim/Sports). Evening dinner followed by words of welcome in Kiswahili as well as overview of Kenya

Day 2: Excursions

Breakfast at the academy and depart to Hell’s Gate National Park, Lunch at a Naivasha hotel & Boat ride. Return to the school for dinner, later on Intro to Service (Charity /Aid/Development) and Preparation for Projects work. Activity: Wildlife / Excursion.

Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve

Breakfast and departure to Masai Mara National Reserve, arrival Lunch and afternoon rest. Embark on evening game drive within Masai Mara National Reserve return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay. Activity: Wildlife/Bush craft/ Charity Aid/Cultural interaction

Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve

Breakfast at the camp and depart for a full day game drive within Masai Mara National Reserve. Later on return to the camp for relaxation followed by dinner and campfire/tents/lounge. Activity: Wildlife

Day 5: Masai Mara Community

Breakfast and group visit a local primary school, teach games and interact with the local students. Lunch at the camp, later on enrichment Workshops / Hand Craft session and relaxation. Evening dinner at the camp Rest at the lounge/tents/camp fire site. Activity: Interaction with local students / Bush craft

Day 6: Masai Mara / Local Skills Learning

Breakfast and embark on nature walk & Maasai Survival techniques, explore the ecology and the importance of flora and fauna to Maasai culture. Learn more about different animals foot prints, animal dung, plants, shrubs and trees. Return to the camp for Lunch and afternoon leisure. Later on Cultural excursion to the Maasai Cultural Village, get to meet and interact with authentic Masai Moran, women and children, learn the Maasai lifestyle, fire making using wood, songs, dances and participation. Return to the camp for dinner, campfire, Moran dances and overnight. Reflection session / Debriefing. Activity: Cultural / Wildlife / Bush craft

Day 7: Masai Mara – Nakuru

Breakfast and depart to Nakuru, lunch on arrival. Afternoon rest and recap of previous trip to Masai Mara National Reserve. Dinner / Reflection Session / blogging/journal/movie making.

Day 8: Nakuru – Local School Visitations

Breakfast and depart to local School Site Visits. Group will visit 2 Local schools to better understand their model and to provide reference for their own service projects. Return for lunch at the school. Afternoon Team Building & Service planning, group forming and bonding activities. Students will reflect on the morning visit to local schools and look closely at service schedule and brainstorm some activities to carry out Service Planning Cont’d. Dinner and later on reflection Session / blogging/journal. Activity: Preparation for service week ahead. Group formation through team building activities

Day 9: Lake Baringo & Bogoria Excursions

After breakfast depart for Cultural & Nature Excursion at Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria National Reserves. Lunch at Lake at the site. Return to the school for Dinner and Preparation for Service week ahead. Activity: Wildlife/Cultural

Day 10: Excusrions

Breakfast and depart for Nature Excursion Tour to Menengai Crater, return to the school for Lunch and afternoon leisure. Evening Dinner and overnight stay. Activity: Wildlife /Nature walk

Day 11: Local School Visitation

Breakfast and depart to Local School by bus. Arrive at School Sites for Morning Service Activity 1 (Assisting with classroom teaching). Morning Service Activity 2 (students leading their own cultural activities with pre-school students including reading/telling traditional stories, dance, song). Return to the academy for Lunch & Leisure followed by Various Workshops (Cooking lessons). Evening Dinner / Reflection Session / Blogging / Emails. Activity: Aid/Charity/Development / Cross-cultural experience / Packed lunches / Assist in preparation of a local meal

Day 12: Local School Visitation

Breakfast and depart to local school by bus. Arrive at School Sites for Morning Service Activity 1 (Assisting with classroom teaching). Morning Service Activity 2 (Students will work on developing classroom learning materials). Lunch and afternoon Service Activity (Tree/Flower Planting at the schools). Return back to Academy for Various Workshops / Drums and Dance with local artists. Dinner and Reflections / Blogging / Emails. Activity: Aid / Charity / Development / Packed lunches (**2 weeks prior to group arrival, our staff will arrange with community to bring necessary tools) / Local dances

Day 13: Local School Visitation

Breakfast and depart to local school by bus. Arrive at School Sites for Morning Service Activity 1 (Assisting with classroom teaching). Morning Service Activity 2 (Students leading their own cultural activities with pre-school students i.e. reading/telling traditional stories, dance, song). Lunch & afternoon Leisure followed by various enrichment Workshops / Crafts with local community. Dinner then Reflection Session / Blogging / Emails. Activity: Aid in teaching / Cross-cultural experience / Bush craft with local community

Day 14: Local School Visitation

Breakfast and depart to local primary school by bus. Arrive at School Sites for Morning Service Activity 1(Assisting with classroom teaching). Morning Service Activity 2 (Students will work on developing classroom learning materials). Break for Lunch later followed by closing Presentations (Group and teachers/community at each school will arrange some closing speeches and reflections on experience). Return back to Academy for Various Enrichment Workshops / Local Dances. Dinner and Reflection Session / Blogging / Emails. Activity: Aid / Development / Charity / Packed lunches / Closing speeches / Local dances

Day 15: Excursion

Breakfast and for Nature Excursion at Longonot National park: Hiking Mount Longonot, the highest point on the floor of Rift Valley. Lunch and Return to Academy for afternoon leisure and Reflection Session. Dinner / Celebrate and Farewell. Activity: Mountain climbing / hiking /Packed Lunch at the base.

Day 16: Nakuru – Nairobi

Breakfast and Departure to Nairobi, Lunch on arrival then embark on Nairobi City tour including National Museum & Snake Park. Check in at your hotel/tented camp followed by Dinner. Activity: Learn the Kenya’s heritage

Day 17: Giraffe Centre & Elephant Orphanage

Breakfast then Visit to Giraffe Centre to feed the giraffes, Visit to Elephant Orphanage to view baby elephants. Lunch then depart to Amboseli National Park, arrival and check in at the Camp. Later on Dinner and Overnight. Activity: Interact with wildlife / Cultural experience/Wildlife/Bush craft

Day 18: Transfer – Airport

Early Morning game drive within the park then return to the camp for Breakfast and Relaxation. Have lunch at the camp and depart to Nairobi for a Farewell Dinner at Carnivore Restaurant, then be transfer to JKIA airport for your international flight. Activity: Wildlife experience / Sample different types of meat delicacies at the “Beast of feast”
