11 DAYS SAFARI OF EGYPT AND ISRAEL
DAY 1: – EGYPT/THE PYRAMIDS
Upon arrival in the Land of the Pharaohs – Cairo International airport you will be welcomed and assisted through immigration and customs by our representative, then escorted to your hotel.
Later on visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. You will also visit an Oriental perfumery before proceeding to Kardassa the largest market for textile shopping, offering cotton and linen products. Return to the hotel for overnight stay. Meal plan: Lunch /Dinner
DAY 2: – COPTIC CAIRO
After breakfast check out of the hotel and depart for a morning visit to the Old Cairo. Then visit The hanging church (AL MUALLAQA) – built in the 4th century over southern gate of the fortress of Babylon .Dedicated to Virgin Mary with its treasures include a 14th century wall painting of the Nativity.
Church of St. Sergius (ABU SERGA) – A 5th century basilica built over crypt where the Holy Family is believed to have stayed during their flight into Egypt.
Church of St. Mercurius (ABU SEFEIN) – boasts a unique collection of Coptic art including 175 icons that depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments, wall paintings, etching and stained glass, and Ben Ezra Synagogue.
Later on transfer to Nuweiba/Taba (approx 6 hrs). On arrival at Nuweiba/Taba, you will check in the hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure and overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
DAY 3:– JERICHO/BETHLEHEM
After breakfast, transfer to the border town of Taba (approximately 30 mins), cross over to Eilat to enter Israel. Clear with immigration and proceed to Israel. Meet and be assistanced by our representative then drive down to the Dead Sea, the deepest place on earth, then to Jericho and later to Jerusalem to see it at night from Mount Olives. Proceed to the hotel in Bethlehem for overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast/ Lunch/Dinner
DAY 4: – JERUSALEM/GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE
Beginning our day at 7:30 to the Garden of Gethsemane, visit also the “Wailing Wall”, the last remnants of the Temple in Jerusalem. If the situation allows visit the Temple Mount as well. Continue in the footsteps of Jesus along the Stations of the Via Dolorosa, Jesus’ “Way of Suffering”, and unto the Church of the Holy Sepulture, where Jesus was crucified and buried. Lunch stop in the old city (Optional). Then continue to the Via Dolorosa that passes through the Old City’s oriental “Suq” (Bazaar). At 17:00 return back to the hotel for overnight stay. DAY 5: – BETHLEHEM / EIN KAREM
In the morning, visit the ancient Church of the Nativity, where you really touch the very place where Jesus was born. The church was built by St. Helena in the 4th century, it has been an active church and never destroyed ever since! It is here that St. Hieronymus wrote the first Latin translation of the Bible – the “Volgata”. Proceed to visit the “Milk Grotto” and, the “Shepherds Fields” in Beth-Sahour. After lunch-stop, drive to Ein Karim, where John the Baptist was born, visit the “St. John in the Mountains” church, built where the house of St. John was standing. Visit also the Church of Visitation, where St. Mary visited Elisabeth, and continue to the new city of Jerusalem. Return to th hotel for overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
DAY 6: – MT. CARMEL/CAESAREA
After Breakfast, visit old city of Jaffa, one of the ancient gateways to the Holy Land: Through its port the Cedar trees for Salomon’s Temple were brought and where Jonas tried to flee from God. It is in Jaffa where Christianity began to spread among the nations. Here St. Peter lived in the house of Simon the Tanner and had the “Vision of the Flesh”, and this is where he healed the little girl. Today Jaffa’s renovated alley-ways attract many artists, who have their galleries there. Drive to Caesarea the magnificent port-city built by King Herod the Great. Continue to Megiddo, one of Israel’s most ancient cities, where you find traces of fortifications left by the Canaanites, King Solomon, King Ahab, and more, as well as a very sophisticated water system, some claim it was built by the King Solomon. This strategic place has always been the scenery of war, and according to John’s Revelation, it is here where the last battle shall take place – the battle of Armageddon. Continue to Haifa the Mt. Carmel. Stella Mary’s and afternoon drive to Nazareth, visit the basilica and the grotto of the enunciation- the old Synagogue and Mary’s well. Overnight stay at Nazareth. Meal plan: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
DAY 7: – CAPERNAUM/SEA OF GALILEE
At 7:30 drive to visit the places around the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, with Peters House and the famous Synagogue, enjoy the view from Mt. of the Beatitudes, where the “Sermon on the Mount” was given, and the reconstructed church in Tabgh’a, where Jesus fed multitudes on loaf of bread and fish. Later on, sail to the Galilee in a boat similar to the boat used by Jesus and his disciples. Visit the Baptismal Site on the Holy River Jordan. Return back to visit Cana on Galilee and then return to the hotel for dinner and overnight in Nazareth. Meal plan: Breakfast/ Lunch /Dinner
DAY 8:- ST. CATHERINE/MT. SINAI
Early (at 6:30) in the morning depart to visit Ein Hashofet for 2 hours. The residents work both in agriculture and industry, and their agricultural branches include poultry, dairy and beef cattle, field crops and avocado orchards. Continue to visit Qumran then to Eilat border. Cross over to Egypt and continue to St Catherine. Arrival at St, Catharine and check in hotel. Have dinner and retire early to be ready for the early morning climb next day. Overnight stay at St Catherine. Meal plan: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
DAY 9: – SINAI CLIMBING
At 0200H start the climb of Mountain of St, Catharine. Return to hotel for rest and breakfast. Check out and visit sites in St. Catherine – a place where Moses climbed up to the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments. In the same area, is the famous Greek Orthodox Monastery which is built around the Burning Bush and the well where Moses met his wife Zebura (daughter of Jethro, the priest of Median). Visit also the place where the Israelites camped when Moses went to receive the Ten Commandments. Have an optional Walking tour around the mountain in the valley of Arbien.
Thereafter cross the famous Suez Canal that separates Asia and Africa. Heading to the Springs of Moses where Moses hit the rock and twelve water springs appeared. This is where the remnants of the springs and a group of Bedouins still live there. Continue to the Wilderness of Sin where the miracle of Manna and Quails took place as you have a view of the seventy-two palm trees. Your next stop is Rephidim a place where the Israelites fought the Amalekites. During the battle, whenever Moses put his arms down, the Israelites lost and whenever he put his arms up, the Israelites were winning. (Aaron and Hur held Moses’ arms up as he started getting tired.).
Continue to Cairo and check in the hotel for overnight stay. Meal plan: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
DAY 10 – EGYPT – DEP
Have breakfast in the hotel and spend the rest of day at leisure. Later be transfer to airport for your departure flight home. Meal plan: Breakfast
